I created this project as my bachelor‘s thesis in cooperation with MORELO Reisemobile GmbH. The goal was clear: completely rethink the dashboard, especially the driver area, in a campervan. These areas are usually perfectly adjusted for the driving part of the vacation, but they‘re almost completely useless while being on vacation. I took a creative approach, integrating a driving situation into the living space rather than the other way around. I had the idea of a big seating area with the driver and co-pilot seats hidden below the round seating area. I designed the table to be on a rail system, and it can fold in half to open up space for a driver‘s dashboard. It also makes room for a hidden steering wheel inside the table. All the commonly used buttons are in the foot of the table and out of sight as soon as it transitions to the living mode.
This innovative design concept increases usable space in your campervan by up to 20%, while maintaining the ability to drive independently if desired. Choose autonomous driving and use your travel time with your family on one of the largest dining tablets ever created in a camper van.
